Cataract is most common for older people. The eyesight is getting weaker until a person becomes blind. It can only be treated surgically. After the lens is changed the eyesight fully recovers. The earlier the disease is diagnosed - the better post-surgical effects can be expected.
Cataract surgery isn't painful, a local anesthetic is applied. A lens is replaced with an artificial one through a micro-cut in the eye. Usually the surgery lasts for abut 20-30 minutes. Vision becomes better during the first days after surgery and after a couple of weeks it becomes stable.
