Clear lens surgery For patients who are older than 45-50 years because of weakening accommodation clear lens replacement surgery is recommended. Physiological weakening of the accommodation because of the age is called presbyopia (gr. presbys — old + ops — eye) During the surgery anatomical lens which refracts light rays too strong (nearsightednes) or too weak (farsightedness) is replaced with an artificial one specially chosen for the specific eye. In this way a refractive defect is being corrected.
